Phillips Wharf & The Fishmobile
Come learn about Phillips Wharf Environmental Center, a partner and host site of the Maryland Master Naturalist program. Phillips Wharf is a unique center on an island with a storied history: Tilghman Island. We will talk about how environmental centers and naturalists can bridge the gap between conservation in the Chesapeake and a long tradition of unsustainable seafood harvest. We will be bringing live Bay animals and discussing how to properly interpret live animals to the public. Our aquaculture manager will also explain how we are using our oyster aquaculture program to train watermen in becoming oyster growers instead of relying on wild harvest.

Marisa Moon is the Education Director at Phillips Wharf Environmental Center, a non-profit organization located on Tilghman Island on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Phillips Wharf is known for its free estuarium, oyster aquaculture operation, and the "Fishmobile", a converted bookmobile which brings native Chesapeake fauna throughout the state.
